| Application Information | If, during the tenure of a scholarship, a recipient’s immigration status changes so that they are no longer a full-fee-paying international student and thereby obtain a partial refund of academic fees from the university, the scholarship is withdrawn, and any scholarship money paid since the status change was recorded at the University is refunded to the university. | Applicants cannot be current or former students in a programme for a BE (Hons) degree at the University | |
| Special Eligibility Requirements |
Applicants must be completing, or have completed, on or after 1 January of the year before the year of application, a university entrance-level qualification that permits entry into a University of Canterbury undergraduate degree program (please refer to the regulations for more details). Applicants, by the closing date for the round in which they are applying, must have applied for admission to the university. The scholarship is not tenable by students who have already undertaken partial study in an undergraduate degree program at a New Zealand tertiary institution. Selection will be based on:

International Deans Awards for 2026
We are now offering Deans Awards scholarships to students who meet academic merit standards for study in 2026.
- Undergraduate: $4,000
- Postgraduate: $8,000
Students do not need to submit an application for a Dean's Award, as they will automatically be assessed at the time of application.
If students are eligible, they will be sent a Dean's Award offer along with their Offer of Place. Students who have already been sent an Offer of Place for 2026 study should have received a Deans Award offer.
