Awarded to eligible new commencing international applicants, this scholarship is for outstanding students who demonstrate Charles Sturt values and community contributions. It is valued at 50% tuition fee reduction throughout the entire duration of the course Commencing Students 50% tuition fee reduction

Available to:

Awarded to eligible new 2026 commencing international applicants studying in internal/on-campus mode at Orange in the approved courses.

The scholarship is not available for continuing or transferring students. Applicants need to have achieved an academic entry score of 80 per cent of higher in their previous studies.

Conditions: 

Applicant must be an international applicant for an eligible course offered at Orange.

International Exchange and Study Abroad applicants are not eligible for this scholarship.

Provide evidence of:

  • Community involvement and desire to be involved in the Charles Sturt community (you will need to write essays as part of the application).
  • Applicant must hold an unconditional offer* for a Charles Sturt University course.


Overview Available to Value Eligibility Guidelines Deadline
The Regional Accommodation Bursary for International Students is designed to support international students to move to regional Australia. The bursaries for a value of AUD $1,000 each are offered on a first come, first served basis. Commencing Students $1000

To qualify for this scholarship:

  • You will need to be a new international student enrolled in studies in 2026 at Orange, enrolled in a full CRICOS-registered degree program by the time we assess the bursary application.
  • You need to secure accommodation before 14 February 2026 if you will commence in Session 1 2026, or 6 June 2026 if you will commence in Session 2, 2026.
  • The scholarship considers single-room occupancy in our campus buildings. Unfortunately, we can't accommodate shared or family living arrangements.
  • Payment of the $1000 bursary will be made to your student accommodation account following the session's census date.
  • The $1000 bursary is only available as a credit for your on-campus student accommodation account and cannot be used for any other transactions.
  • Awardees will still need to pay the 2026 orientation tariff and acceptance fee (if not already done).
  • The Scholarship is not transferable to another person and cannot be deferred until a later intake date.
  • You must be enrolled in on-campus mode, with a full-time load when we assess the bursary eligibility (after the closing date each session)
  • Any additional costs incurred in relation to the residential agreement will need to be covered by the awardee.
  • Charles Sturt’s decision about the awarding of scholarships is final and no appeal will be entered into.

  • Fulfil all requirements as set out in these guidelines
  • Consent to Charles Sturt University accessing your student records for the purposes of assessing and administering the scholarship
  • Provide any change of individual circumstances in writing to the Scholarships Office [email protected]
  • Provide information and participate in surveys for promotional purposes and review of this scholarship
  • Accept the terms and conditions of this scholarship.

The University reserves the right to undertake audits of individual student’s records to ensure adherence to these guidelines.

General academic eligibility:

  • If applying for an eligible Allied Health course (except Nursing), an academic entry score of 85 per cent in their equivalent Australian Year 12.
  • If applying for any other eligible undergraduate (UG) degree, an academic entry score of 75 per cent in their equivalent Australian Year 12.
  • If applying for an eligible postgraduate (PG) degree, an academic entry score of 65 per cent in their Australian equivalent undergraduate degree study.
