Community Impact Grant
The UCW Community Impact Grant recognizes students who are committed to giving back to the communities that welcome them. This award rewards verified community volunteer service — averaging 10 hours per term — with a tuition credit applied starting in their second term.
Applicable Programs: Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication, Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Business Administration
Eligibility: This grant is open to new students starting their studies at UCW in the Fall 2026 term or Winter 2027 term. They must complete 10 hours of approved community service per term of their studies at UCW to remain eligible for the award. Volunteering can be performed in the community with non-profit organizations, such as at food banks or other community services, or with University Canada West through programs such as Peer Tutoring, New Student Orientation, Peer2Peer, and others. Community service hours are calculated cumulatively with a total of 40 hours for MBA students and 80 hours for bachelor’s degree students, but it is recommended that students volunteer 10 hours per term. Students will need to complete a Community Impact Grant consent form and have it approved to be eligible. The Community Impact Grant stacks with the Regional Grant and the Rising Scholars Grant.
Award Value: This award is $3,000 in addition to the Regional Grant for MBA students and an additional $14,000 for the Rising Scholars Grant for bachelor’s degree students. If a student does not receive another financial award, they are eligible for this award with a total value is $3,000 for MBA students and $14,000 for bachelor´s degree students.
Disbursal: Disbursements of the Community Impact Grant will commence from the second term of enrollment (subject to student participation) as a tuition credit. Students are encouraged to plan their tuition payments accordingly, as the fee distribution may vary across terms. Students will remain eligible for the award as long as they continue to meet the minimum average hours of the volunteer requirements outlined in the Community Impact Grant Consent Form. Students who don’t meet the minimum average volunteering requirements for a term will be ineligible for future Community Impact Award disbursements and cannot restart the award disbursement. Students will receive a prorated award based on the number of credits required to complete their program. If students receive transfer credits (including PLAR) at admission or during their studies, their award amount will be adjusted accordingly.
