Program Overview
You'll organise events from day one, which will help develop your understanding of planning and running events. Paid placements will help you gain critical knowledge of events management along with work experience.
This course combines key business disciplines such as marketing, finance, and operations with key aspects of event management, including event design, project management, health and safety, sustainability, and the impact of events on the economy and society.
From your first day, you’ll be involved in organising events, giving you hands-on experience in planning and execution. Paid placements will help you gain critical knowledge of events management along with work experience. There are also field trip opportunities, which involve visits to a range of tourism and hospitality venues and initiatives around the north-east.
The course is available as a four-year sandwich course, where you can undertake a one-year industrial placement. It effectively becomes a third year of a four-year course. Placements are generally paid and are an excellent opportunity to put your learning into practice and understand the context for your new knowledge. The contacts made during placements can also be valuable for future job offers. We'll support you at every stage of the placement process, from finding suitable placements, to checking that everything is going well, and to making a final assessment of your performance during the placement.
Upon graduation, your knowledge and practical experience will give you an advantage with employers. You'll have a broad set of transferable skills that will equip you for a much wider range of graduate-level employment. Many of our graduates have progressed to roles such as:
