This course is available to students with or without a first degree in computer science.  

Computer Science is playing a key role in many industries all around the world. Developments in artificial intelligence, apps and cyber security are changing how we live, work and socialise. This course will give you the skills and knowledge to prepare you for a range of high-level careers.

Core modules will develop your knowledge in key topics such as programming, databases, and networks. Optional modules give you the flexibility to broaden your knowledge in specialist areas, including machine learning, autonomous robotics, and human-AI interaction. 

You will undertake an individual research project in an area of your choice. This could be in collaboration with an industry partner to build your experience and connections. You can also work with one of our world-leading research groups. Previous projects have included:

  • Deep Learning for Plant Phenotyping
  • Automated algorithm design
  • Collaborative live mobile video streaming systems for sports events

If you choose to focus your study and research in the field of AI, you can graduate with a degree titled ‘MSc Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence)’.

    Eligibility

    You must:

    • be an international fee-paying student
    • be starting year one of a full undergraduate degree programme (RQF level 4) that is UK campus-based (excludes Bachelor programmes in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Medicine or Foundation Year) 
    • have achieved AAA grades or , assessed at the point of successful admission
    • be self-funded, and not in receipt of any other University award or sponsorship by an external body

    The university reserves the right of awarding scholarships and some exceptions may apply. .

    Students progressing to the University from Kaplan (University of Nottingham International College or Digital Pathways) are not eligible for this scholarship scheme. However, students may be eligible for Kaplan - University of Nottingham specific scholarships

    International Postgraduate Scholarships

    Automatic scholarships for international master's students.

    At the University of Nottingham, we are offering scholarships worth £3,000 to students starting their studies with us in 2026. This will be automatically awarded and will be deducted from your master's tuition fee.
