Program Overview
Foundation in Computer Science
The Foundation Year is designed for students who either do not meet the requirements for direct BSc entry (level of English, school qualifications, etc.) or would like to gain additional confidence and skills in their subject area and general academic practice prior to the start of their degree course.
The Foundation Year in Computer Science provides an introduction to the academic discipline of computer science and guarantees progression to BSc (Hons) Computer Science or BSc (Hons) Software Engineering (subject to meeting the required criteria).
Progression to: BSc (Honours) Cyber Security
Could you lead the future of cyber security? Digital technologies impact every part of our lives and cyber security experts are essential for addressing debates around AI, digital forensics, and hacking. As a cyber security student, you will tackle foundational, advanced, and emergent, cyber security topics such as security and penetration testing, cryptography, network security, resilient distributed systems, security of autonomous systems, secure AI, secure cyber-physical systems, and security metrics. Prepare to influence the systems that shape our world and take the next step towards an exciting career.
As with our other degrees, in your first year you will receive a comprehensive grounding in computer science fundamentals covering both theory and practice. In your second and third years you will begin to specialise in areas that inspire you.

Lancaster University Leipzig is offering a limited number of scholarships for students interested in pursuing postgraduate studies in Germany for the October 2026 intake. This exclusive opportunity significantly reduces the tuition fee for selected Master’s programs.
Scholarship Benefit
- Tuition fee reduced to €16,000 for the full programme
- Total savings of €9,000 (approximately 35% discount on standard tuition fees)

The scholarship is applicable to the following 1-year Master’s programs:

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be an Indian student (new or existing applicant)

- Must hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) from the university
- Scholarship awards are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis
