Program Overview

This program provides graduates with knowledge in the core sciences as well as problem solving fundamentals for chemistry, biochemistry, physics and math. This program now occupies a unique position where graduates demonstrate firm problem solving abilities that can be applied across the largest number of industries from pharmaceuticals and the petroleum industry to environmental, nuclear technology and alternative energy. No other program offers such a wide range of employment or further educational opportunities.

Program Highlights
The Chemical Laboratory Technology program at St. Clair College is working in partnership with Bruce Power to include curriculum that will support the Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program (NUCP) from the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) starting in September 2018. Bruce Power will provide a number of co-op placement opportunities for students registered for the NUCP option. Once St. Clair’s program changes have been approved by NEI, graduating students who meet the required standard will be issued an NUCP certificate, along with their diploma, which will improve opportunities for employment in the field of nuclear power.

  • Solid business and industry partnerships provide students the opportunity to participate in R&D projects.
  • Completion of a third year research project, potentially while placed with an industrial partner.
  • This program gives the graduate unparalleled versatility in the job market.
  • Since chemistry is the central science, this program offers the greatest number of pathways to university education.
  • Graduates are highly sought after by employers across a broad spectrum of industries.
  • Any of our graduates who have been willing to explore job opportunities throughout Ontario and even Canada/United States have found employment within six months of graduation.
