Program Overview

This program will be shortened to 5 years to align with the upcoming changes to teacher education announced by the Ministry of Education. More updates will be made as details are confirmed. Prospective students applying in Fall 2026 will be applying to this shortened program.

Concurrent Education is a 5-year program that prepares secondary school graduates to become educators and qualify for Ontario College of Teachers certification. Students admitted to Concurrent Education/Arts will be working towards two degrees at the same time - a Bachelor of Education (BEd) and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours).

In the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) portion of the program, students will experience a flexible and focused first year. Most students in the Faculty of Arts and Science will select their degree Plan (i.e., their Major) at the end of their first-year.
