Program Overview
Explore the underlying mathematics of any process. You will learn concepts, principles, qualitative and quantitative methods, and innovative problem-solving skills.
Experiential learning
A five-year Co-operative Education option is available; it satisfies the guidelines of the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education. The program combines an Honours Bachelor of Science program with embedded work terms. The co-op option gives you opportunities to apply your classroom and lab concepts to real-world situations and help you gain valuable, relevant work experience to promote networking and lifelong career success.
Co-op work terms give you the opportunity to earn a competitive salary that will help pay for your university degree, and the work experience to help clarify your career objectives. More importantly, a co-op degree gives you a distinct advantage that will assist your prospects for full-time employment after graduation or for being readily accepted into graduate school to pursue further studies. Studies have shown that university students who graduate with a co-op degree have lower debt loads, are employed faster and have higher starting salaries.
We are committed to providing you with outstanding opportunities to work with today’s highest-quality employers in business and industry. Our university has developed strong partnerships with leading employers in Durham Region and beyond to allow you to connect with experts in the field and gain hands-on, real-world experience.

|
If you are an international secondary-school student entering an undergraduate program at the university on a study permit and are currently studying outside of Canada, you can apply for the university's Global Leadership Award (GLA).
|
If you are an international secondary school student entering an undergraduate program at the university on a study permit, you may be eligible to receive one of the university's International Merit Awards. International Merit Awards are valued at $20,000 CAD over four years ($5,000 CAD x four years) and will be awarded to applicants with a grade point average of 80 per cent or greater as calculated at the time of admission. Successful applicants will be notified with an offer of scholarship from the university. If a student requires less than four years of full-time study, they will only receive the portion for their study length (ie. If they only study three years full-time, they will receive $15,000 CAD max). Canadian citizens and permanent residents are not eligible for the International Merit Awards. This award may not be held in conjunction with other scholarships and/or awards, such as the Global Leadership Award, Awards of Recognition, Major Scholarships or In-Course Scholarships. Student eligibility for renewal:
Note, if your residency status changes to domestic, you will no longer be eligible to receive this award. |
These awards recognize academic accomplishments for recent Canadian secondary-school graduates. If you are an international student who studied at an on-shore secondary school in Canada, you may be eligible to receive an award. The following amounts are automatically awarded in your first year based on your best six 4U/4M courses (or equivalent).
