Year One Foundation Program 

If you would like to study at this top Canadian university but don’t yet meet the academic entry requirements, you can apply to join U of A’s Year One Foundation Program. This program is the first year of a four-year bachelor’s degree. Upon successful completion of the program, you will continue your studies in the second year of your degree. You’ll also get dedicated support from experts in your area of study and won’t lose any time on your journey to graduation!


Leading to: Bachelor of Commerce

The Bachelor of Science with Major is a highly customizable degree program with a wide breadth of topics to study. The degree includes an optional minor or double major. This flexibility allows students to design their degree around two areas of interest, or choose to focus on only one area. Students have the option to keep their program broad or delve deeper into a discipline of their choice. Your minor can be chosen from 60+ subjects, including many offered by the Faculty of Arts, Native Studies, Business or Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences.


Major: Applied Mathematics

The Major in Applied Mathematics program trains students to apply mathematical ideas to solve practical problems that arise in the physical, life, and social sciences, as well as in engineering and finance. In addition to offering courses in pure mathematics, this program also offers courses that focus on using theoretical mathematics to solve problems – hence, applied mathematics.
