Diploma in Engineering
The UNSW College Diploma of Engineering is a supportive 12-month program that provides you with the foundational skills and knowledge to progress into your second year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) at UNSW Sydney.

If you need more support but do not want to add extra time to your degree, the Diploma is a great pathway. If you just missed out on direct entry into the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), or hold qualifications not recognised by UNSW Sydney, the Diploma pathway could be the best option for you.

Engineers develop practical solutions to technical and environmental problems by using science and mathematics. Through scientific discoveries engineers meet societal and consumer needs.

Engineers work in a range of roles across all different types of industries, from civil engineering to environmental, computer science to petroleum engineering – the possibilities are endless. The type of engineer you’ll become often depends on the specialisation you choose in this degree. This degree offers 19 engineering specialisations across different engineering disciplines.

In this degree you’ll gain a solid background in mathematics, natural sciences and computing that’ll prepare you to learn knowledge and skills in an engineering discipline. You’ll graduate with the technical knowledge, skills and attributes required to succeed as a professional engineer.


Major: Photovoltaics and Solar Energy Engineering
Involving the manufacture of solar cells that convert light into electricity, photovoltaics & solar energy engineering finds new and creative ways to harness the vast amount of energy in our sun. This fills a big demand of our increasingly energy-hungry world. People in this field use their skills and creative thinking to solve one of the world’s greatest problems – creating a sustainable energy source.
