Break into the pharmaceutical industry with a competitive edge to succeed in your career.

The award-winning Master of Pharmaceutical Industry Practice will provide you with industry-ready skills to support a career in the medicines and devices development sector.

You'll gain insight into contemporary industry practice, studying:

  • Ethics and governance
  • Regulatory, business and health economics
  • Drug design and formulation
  • Manufacturing and packaging
  • Clinical drug development, including safety (pharmacovigilance) and biometrics from preclinical (animal research) to post-registration. 

As part of this 2-year full-time (or part-time equivalent) degree, you’ll have the option of undertaking placement experiences, research or coursework in your second year, depending on your progress in year one.

If you secure an industry placement, you’ll gain insight into contemporary industry practice. Placements are at least 12 weeks and typically span many fields within the sector, including those in drug discovery or clinical trials, medical and regulatory affairs, or pharmacovigilance.

You’ll be taught by leading educators, who were recently awarded the UQ Teaching and Learning Award for Programs that Value and Enhance Student Employability. Discover how this program uses work-integrated learning to enhance student employability.

    • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Science, engineering, medical/biomedical science, health sciences, pharmacy or pharmaceutical science, or equivalent, or
    • The Graduate Certificate in Pharmaceutical Industry Practice from UQ

    You’re eligible if you:

    • are an international student
    • are commencing your first semester at UQ

    • have met the conditions of your offer by the scholarship’s closing date (you don’t need to accept your full offer by the scholarship application deadline)
    • demonstrate strong academic performance in your previous studies.
       

    Selection criteria

    We’ll consider:

    • your academic performance (based on the academic credentials you submitted in your UQ Faculty of Science program application)
    • your capacity to create change and contribute to science (based on the personal statement you submitted in your scholarship application).
