Bachelor of Laws (Honours)
At QUT, we prepare our students for the modern world of law. What makes our law degree unique is our balance between legal principles and practice.

With our practical, hands-on approach to teaching, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the Australian legal system and the core areas of law required for admission to legal practice in Australia. You will also learn about the relationship between Australia's Indigenous people and the legal system through Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives on law.

The legal industry is experiencing rapid evolution due to significant advancements in data-driven technologies that are fundamentally changing many aspects of society. As a result, lawyers are increasingly required to develop new skills and capabilities to adapt to the changing nature of law and legal work. In our law, technology and innovation minor, we explore how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics are impacting the legal industry. You'll learn about the legal, ethical, and social challenges raised by these technologies, as well as design thinking techniques that enable you to respond to legal challenges from a human-centred approach.

Designed in close collaboration with industry partners, our honours-level law courses are modern, relevant, and uphold industry standards.

Another way we prepare our students for the real world is via our work-integrated learning opportunities. These include our legal clinics, community justice projects, study tours, internships, and meet-the-profession events. By participating in these programs, you'll be able to build your professional network and gain valuable practical experience while also earning credit towards your degree.

This degree is accredited by the Legal Practitioners' Admissions Board (LPAB). To become a solicitor or barrister, you will need to complete practical legal training (PLT) and pass the Bar Exams. QUT offers PLT through our Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.

Bachelor of Communication (Journalism)
The landscape of factual media has undergone a profound transformation in the digital era. New actors and outlets have entered the public sphere, and audience expectations about who to trust have changed dramatically. Factual storytellers must adapt status quo approaches to produce truthful, accurate material more quickly and for more platforms than ever before.  

This major prepares you for a dynamic career in factual writing whether you are covering global affairs, hosting a criminal investigations podcast, or drafting social media posts. You will learn fundamental concepts like fairness and accuracy, as well as pioneering skills in multimedia production, data-driven storytelling, and reporting for social justice.

After entering the Bachelor of Communication/Bachelor of Laws (Honours), you'll start by studying a range of fundamental skills that blend cutting-edge technologies with proven communication techniques you can take into any industry. Later in your double degree, you'll be able to choose the major that best suits your dream career.
