General Foundation Studies Program
The General Foundation Studies Program is a university entry program designed for international students who have completed a minimum of year 11 or its equivalent.

Articulation to Western Sydney University

Students must:

  • Pass all the units including core and pathway specific
  • Achieve a minimum GPA as required for entry to your intended Bachelor course program^
  • Achieve a minimum grade requirement for specific unit/s as required for entry to your intended Bachelor course^

These criteria are subject to change.

Meeting these criteria will qualify students for entry into the first year of Bachelor of Engineering Science.

Leading to: Bachelor of Engineering Science

The Bachelor of Engineering Science degree covers all major engineering domains and you can experience many facets of engineering before deciding your area of specialisation at the end of your first year. The Bachelor of Engineering Science may be used as a pathway to the four-year Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree. It may also be used as a three-year exit program for the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours). Note: Successful applicants for Advanced Standing may be required to travel to different Western Sydney University campuses to complete the elements of their programs.

Major: Sustainability

Available at the Parramatta and Penrith campuses.

Human society is facing ever increasing challenges from changing climate, expanding populations and industrial development. Traditional approaches to solve environmental problems needs rethinking and should consider circular economy, life cycle thinking, climate smartness, digitisation. In this Major, students assess various challenges in provision of water, food, infrastructure and energy then propose design solutions using holistic, futuristic and sustainable technologies and strategies. Through hands-on, real-life projects, students explore solutions that integrate technical, technological (IoT), social, cultural, geographical, regulatory and ethical factors. This major will benefit students aiming for careers such as Environmental Engineering Technologist, Waste Engineering Technologist/, and Sustainability Engineering Technologist. 

Graduate destinations include:
Environmental Engineering Technologist, Waste Engineering Technologist, Sustainability Engineering Technologist.

This major includes a mandatory 300-hour industrial placement as a completion requirement for Engineers Australia accreditation as an engineering technologist.
