The Bachelor Program in Laboratory Technician, offered by the Faculty of Technical Medical Sciences, prepares students to become key contributors to patient care through precise medical diagnostics and laboratory science. Laboratory technicians play a fundamental role in healthcare, providing the critical data that supports diagnosis, treatment, disease prevention, and ongoing patient monitoring.

As healthcare advances through ongoing scientific and technological innovation, this program is designed to address the increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in medical diagnostics. The curriculum emphasizes both theoretical foundations and practical training for students to develop strong analytical skills and technical expertise.

Throughout this 3-year program, students engage in practical training in modern laboratories at Western Balkans University (WBU), working alongside researchers in clinical and medical sciences. They gain practical experience in clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, parasitology, virology, immunology, histology, transfusion medicine, and emerging disciplines like nuclear and experimental medicine.

The program also fosters essential skills in scientific communication, critical thinking, and research methodology. These competencies prepare students to navigate complex clinical environments and contribute  effectively to interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Graduates of the program are well-prepared to work in modern diagnostic laboratories, hospitals, research institutions, and public health organizations, both in Albania and internationally. With a strong foundation in both science and ethics, they are positioned not only as reliable healthcare professionals but also as future innovators in the field of laboratory medicine.
